Modern Foreign Languages

MFL Documents

Modern Foreign Languages equip students with the skills and confidence to thrive in a globalised society and to nurture an open-minded, curious attitude to new cultures and people. We provide all of our students with the opportunity to develop skills and confidence to consider themselves world citizens, with the ability to communicate interculturally. We encourage openness and adaptability to new experiences and nurture linguistic curiosity within a classroom environment where learning from others is valued.

Students progressively acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary and grammar knowledge organised around themed topic areas. The wide range of knowledge and depth of understanding enables students to express their ideas and thoughts in another language, both in speech and writing, and to understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources.
