Bad Weather Information
Guidance for Parents / Carers in the Case of Bad Weather forcing school closures
It is our policy to keep the school open wherever possible. Please assume the school is open unless you hear otherwise. The Department for Education recognises the delivery of education to pupils as an essential service, as do we.
If we do have to close, parents/carers will be informed in the following ways:
- The school website: www.coombesheadacademy.org.uk
- By text message (for those who have signed up to receive texts from school)
- Via Facebook: Coombeshead Academy
- The information will be published on the Newton Abbot Town Council website www.newtonabbot-tc.gov.uk
- There may also be an announcement on local radio stations including BBC Radio Devon www.bbc.co.uk/radiodevon , Heart Radio www.heart.co.uk and The Breeze www.thebreeze.com/southdevon
There is no need to contact the school to check whether or not the school is open. Unless announced as above, we are open.
Should there be a full or partial closure for any reason, lessons will continue remotely using Microsoft Teams, following the normal timetable. All students are expected to attend lessons remotely. Please see this video for details of how to access remote lessons:
Further details about Remote Learning are available here: https://www.coombesheadacademy.org.uk/1093/remote-education-guidance-for-parents
