Food and Nutrition

Students will use a variety of practical cooking techniques to prepare and cook food, whilst gaining an understanding of the scientific principles behind food and nutrition. The subject allows students to release their creative flair and inspire excellence by learning and adapting existing recipes in order to modify and improve their nutritional profile and sensory properties. As a subject, Food allows all students to develop vital life skills enabling them to feed themselves and others affordably and nutritiously-both now and later in life. Our Food curriculum promotes cultural capital for all year groups nurturing independent thinking, forward planning and organisational skills. Our students demonstrate endeavour and achieve at the highest level irrespective of background or need. All students have access to the widest possible curriculum experience.
